CS2 Spray Patterns

CS2 Spray Patterns

Of all the tools and weapons available in CS2, the smoke grenade shines as a game-changing asset. To play at the high ranks, you must learn how to use them. To help you with that, here is a complete guide on CS2 Smokes.

What Are CS2 Spray Patterns?

Weapons in CS2 don’t behave like any other first-person shooter, besides a few exceptions like Valorant. In other FPS games, the bullet will exit the barrel of your weapon in the same direction you are aiming at. Other mechanics, like bullet drop, will kick in later once the bullet gets fired.

However, in CS2, bullets don’t work like that. Depending on the weapon, only the first few bullets of your weapon will exit the barrel in the direction you are aiming. If you continue firing your weapon, the bullets will start exiting your barrel in a direction much higher than where you’re aiming. For most weapons, if you continue firing, the bullets will start exiting the barrel in multiple directions, left and right.

In other words, if you’re shooting at a target on a wall in CS2, even if you manage to keep your crosshair on the target, the bullets will go all over the place if you empty the mag full auto. The pattern of bullet marks that appear on the wall is called the spray pattern. Every time you fire with a weapon in CS2 on full auto, the spray will land on the wall with the same pattern but with minor deviations.

So, how do people actually hit anything in full auto in CS2? Well, if you can move your crosshair in a path that’s opposite to the spray pattern, you’ll end up effectively landing bullets on your target. This is called recoil control and it’s actually what every high-ranked CS2 player focuses a lot on, with some spending an hour of practice every day.

Conclusion

Now you know all about the spray patterns of weapons in CS2. Keep in mind that you won’t become a pro at recoil control in just one practice session. Make sure you hop in a private match and practice for at least a week, and then you’ll be able to hit your targets in full auto mode.
